Position Overview:
The Enterprise Systems Architect’s role is to develop strategy, design, and oversee installation, administration, and optimization of company servers and storage. This includes leading efforts to ensure the availability of applications, consult on new implementations, and develop processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. The Enterprise Systems Architect ensures the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data, servers and backup media. In addition, the Enterprise Systems Architect will often participate in planning meetings for projects in relation to all Host hardware, capacity planning, storage and other infrastructure. This person will lead and coordinate varying research/implementation projects utilizing proper documentation, tools, and task management skills. This person will collaborate with management and other teams in order to plan and build long term effectiveness of the server environment.

Specific Duties:
Strategize, plan, design, test, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise server and storage systems
Provide on-call technical support on a rotating schedule
Assist in research and development activities on relevant technology products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry
Be a key contributor to long term infrastructure designs, with other infrastructure members
Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network and fabric problems for end users and support personnel. Recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions
Adhere to company software licensing policies and practices
Attend training seminars, conferences, and trade shows to broaden knowledge of current and future, issues and technologies. Recommend similar learning opportunities for staff
Produce written documentation for recommendations which describe solutions to business problems. This includes the equipment recommended, the cost of the equipment, and the time required to successfully (and fully) implement the solution. Focus should include the benefits versus the cost
Ensure confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information; adhere to company security policies
Recommend, schedule, and perform improvements, upgrades, and repairs
Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Maintain current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to emergency server outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans
Configure server hosts to ensure smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes
Monitor the performance of managed systems. Troubleshoot and resolve problem areas as needed
Manage servers and their associated operating systems/software
Monitor and test systems performance. Provide performance statistics and reports
Design, deploy, and maintain company server hosts, storage systems, virtual machines, and related hardware
Perform server and security audits
Provide deep technical guidance to other members of the team
Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring systems data
Write technical specifications for purchase of server hardware and software products
Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure server products and services
Provide training for support personnel (which includes Help Desk, computer technicians, and trainers), internal/external customers, and management
Provide written documentation for support personnel (which includes Help Desk, computer technicians, and trainers), internal/external customers, and management
Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedure manuals, and help sheets for systems installations
Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for administration
Plan for capacity growth in the Virtual environment

Required Skills:
Must have one of the following
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field AND at least 2 years of equivalent IT related work experience within the last 5 years
High School Diploma/Equivalent AND at least 7 years of equivalent IT related work experience within the last 10 years
At least 7 years of current experience managing a large multi-server environment
At least 5 years of extensive on the job experience with Hypervisor Visualization
On the job experience with Microsoft server technologies
Extensive on the job experience with VMWare
Ability to conduct research across a wide range of computing issues
Experience configuring server operating system security
Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel experience
On call availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 12 months a year
Highly self-motivated and directed
Strong customer service orientation
Solid leadership skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong math skills
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time domestically or internationally
Valid driver’s license with favorable motor vehicle report
Ability to obtain and maintain a passport
Prefer SAP experience
Prefer extensive experience in managing and administrating VMware 5.X environments
Prefer experience in HyperV or Xen

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field AND at least 2 years of equivalent IT related work experience within the last 5 years
High School Diploma/Equivalent AND at least 7 years of equivalent IT related work experience within the last 10 years
